I used to love Senator Richard Burr. He had no more steadfast or stalwart supporter in the state. When he was a Congressman, I often wished that I lived a few miles to the west, so I could vote for him, as I more often wished that I lived in the Charlotte area, so I could vote for Sue Myrick.
After a decade in the House, I was still willing and wanting to support him in his run for the Senate, despite that he was beginning to enter the realm of professional politician. He had built a successful private sector career before entering politics. He wasn't another scummy lawyer. He did profess and practice common sense conservatism in such actions as opposing Dodd-Frank and supporting and co-sponsoring The Fair Tax Act. But along the way from his initial Senatorial election in 2004, he decided that being part of the party leadership is more important than honoring Constitutional conservatism. Conservative Review ranks him as the 34th most conservative current Senator, with a failing grade of 45%.
In his currently airing radio commercials, he disingenuously labels himself as conservative. His only campaign message is that he is the chairman of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee. His proudest achievement is being distantly related to murdering, exiled, third Vice-President, Aaron Burr.
North Carolinians, it is time that we fire Richard Burr and hire some new blood, so to speak. Sen. Burr has become a shameful sham of a Congressional representative. We do have a couple of good and decent seeming candidates with whom to replace him.
Dr. Greg Brannon of Cary ran for communistic Kay Hagan's seat a couple of years ago. He lost in the primary to Thom (and let's pronounce it as he spells it, with the diphthong sound) Tillis. Thom has been an egregious failure in his early Senate career, as I expected him to be. He has obviously tucked himself under Burr's wing to be another McConnell ass kissing Repulsican professional political party pusillanimous poltroon. Conservtive Review ranks him 44th, with a dismally disappointing score of 33%. That ranks him under RINO's Lindsay Gramnesty and John McCain't Make Up His Mind if He's Conservative or Liberal and just 12 spots above Socialist Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Retired Greensboro businessman Larry Holmquist is a neophyte in politics. He has no money. He has no organization. He does have great state Tea Party respect and regard. And he has my support and endorsement.
Either Dr. Brannon or Mr. Holmquist would be an able and acceptable replacement for Richard Burr. Neither man is a native North Carolinian, but both have made North Carolina home, well establishing themselves with professional and private sector careers. They both adhere to Christian, common sense Constitutional conservatism, including an openness to taxing consumption, rather than production.
I've decided to side with Larry for his open, unabashed opposition to Repulsican Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell as Leader. I support Larry for his obvious willingness to openly communicate with constituents. And I generally love an underdog.
LARRY HOLMQUIST FOR U.S. SENATE
