Amending Is Generally Just Expending

In order to ramp up voter interest in an otherwise generally uninteresting event in the form of a midterm election, the heavily R controlled North Carolina General Assembly has put six proposed state constitutional amendments on the ballot.  Some of them have accomplished their objective in creating colossal controversy.
I have read the text as it will appear on the ballot.  I have read the official explanations as presented by the the NC Constitutional Amendments Publication Commission.  I have read the inputs from such groups as media outlets, the state bar association and the National Association of Social Workers.  (I didn't know who the NASW is, until I clicked on their posting.  You didn't really think for a moment that I give a good good gahoot what a bunch of social workers believe, did you?)   And I have read the actual full text of the laws as passed, in their native legalese, in which I am fluent.

Pole/rod and reel hook and line?  Net?  Canoodling?  Firearms? Battery electrocution?  Dynamite?  I've witnessed all of those methods used.  What are the traditional methods of hunting?  Firearms?  Bow and arrow?  Spears?  Clamp, slingshot, and pit traps?  Baiting and poisoning?  I've seen or heard of all of those methods utilized.
As one of my most respected neighbors opines, hunting and fishing are God given rights, not to be usurped by the state.  Genesis does command "men..to be the masters of all life upon the earth and in the skies and in the seas" and proclaims that we  are "the masters of the fish and birds and all the animals".
This proposed amendment would be "subject to laws enacted by the General Assembly and rules adopted pursuant to authority granted by the General Assembly".  The legislators did rightfully include that "Nothing" about this amendment "shall be construed to modify any provision of law relating to trespass, property rights or eminent domain."  Another provision that "Public hunting and fishing shall be a preferred means of managing and controlling wildlife" is as pointless and superfluous as the first mentioned provision in this paragraph.  I'll vote AGAINST.
Image result for nc constitutional amendmentsThe victims' rights amendment makes Article I, Section 37 a lot wordier.  Some of the words, like "dignity and respect" are pointless and superfluous, as they are words with no real objective definition or application.  I do like the inserted provisions to include "delinquency", as so much crime in 21st century America, particularly gang related crimes, are committed by minors.  I don't like the provision that gives district attorneys an 'out' for their malfeasance of duty.   I also don't like the the public fiscal note accompanying this legislation estimating that these changes to our justice system will cost $11 million a year.  I shall vote AGAINST and shall admonish my Raleigh Representative and Senator to remove or reword that D.A. protective provision in Subsection 1b and to insert language that mandates that costs incurred shall be paid by the criminals and to re-present the amendment in two years.

Image result for nc constitutional amendments  I shall not go into any great detail about the final two proposed amendments.  They are both obvious overreaches by the General Assembly to usurp Executive and Judicial authority, which would create imbalance in our system of checks and balances.  They also create new bureaucracies and provide additional power to Legislative major party politicians.
Both of these proposals are short sighted and narrow vision back lashes against recent governor, Repulsican Pat McCrory and current governor, Demoncat Roy Cooper.

I shall strongly vote AGAINST both.
