I often wish that The Framers had had the insight and foresight of George Washington when it comes to political parties. President Washington innately and inherently knew the evils of party politics. I wish I wish I wish that he had been able to impart that wisdom to the writers of The Constitution, so that there had been a codicil mandating that any citizen wishing to run for public office could do so only as an individual espousing his or her own personal political/philosophical principles.
Despite the far seeing wisdom within his Farewell Address, Washington's advice was ignored from the very beginning of our country. Otherwise great men, like Jefferson, Hamilton, et al. fell into the trap of the party politics of adversarialism, rather than seeking out a system of cooperative individualism. From the first Presidential election of 1789, in which no candidate espoused party affiliation, to our latest election, political parties have proliferated, if not prospered, so that now, there are approximately forty-nine, yes, forty-nine recognized, to some extent or the other political parties in America. And you thought there were only two. There are over a dozen which include the words Socialist or Communist as part of their party name.
I include the American Nazi Party in this list, as Nazi translates to National Socialist. I didn't include parties which espouse socialistic/communistic doctrine, without having either of those words are part of the parties' names.
If we have to practice party politics, I propose a new and wholly different type of organization: one that truly focuses on the individuals comprising the party, rather than the party itself. I would choose, as I did in 2008, a name that has surprisingly never been used, and despite its six syllables, is a universally understood and comprehended concept, as contrasted by the much misunderstand five syllable name of Libertarian, or as I now label them, the Liebertarians. This party would be The Individualist Party, promoting policy and programs grounded in individualism, which states that each and every one should have freedom in his or her economic pursuits and should succeed by his or her own initiative. It is a doctrine that properly proclaims that the interests of the individual should have preference over the interests of the state or social group. Without personal rights, there can be no popular rights.
The IP's primary platform plank would be: NO POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!!! There is not, among man's inalienable rights, the right from being offended. Demoncatic and even establishment Repulsican progressives have no trouble calling conservatives murderers, dog haters, corporate raiders and company killers, it is time to label liberals as the liars and assassins whom they are. The entirety of domestic policy would be encapsulated in the concept that government is to exist only to the extent of preventing any individual or corporation from experiencing demonstrable loss or harm through the force or fraud of another, while establishing and enforcing law for bankruptcies, patents and copyrights, coinage and currency, and weights and measures, while also building and maintaining transportation infrastructure. It is the primary function of government to protect the citizenry, legal residents and visitors from such demonstrable loss or harm through force or fraud perpetrated by another and to provide remedies in response to such overt actions. Secondarily, it is to enact and enforce such laws designed to promote uniform safety and overall prosperity of the one, and as byproduct, the whole. Foreign affairs would be based on Washington's warning to avoid entanglements with foreign nations. Beyond equitable and open trade, the U.S. should have no dealings with non-American governments, groups or persons, with the exception of The Capitalist Coalition treaty, stipulating preferred trading partner status and common defense alignment with a very few foreign states. The following images could serve as Party emblems better than elephants or jack asses or unionized mobs. .
The only way to successfully start such a party is to have appropriate Republicans, like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jim Demint, Herman Cain, Wallace Jefferson, Dale Wainwright, Clarence Thomas, Allen West, Bobby Jindal, Tom del Beccaro, Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Alveda King, Mary Fallin, Michael Williams, Debra Mayfield, Janice Rogers Brown, Mia Love, Renee Ellmers, Jan Brewer, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter publicly and proudly pronounce their affiliation with this new party. High profile Libertarians like Neil Boortz, Jason Lewis, and Conservatives like Sean Hannity and truly unaffiliated conservatives Dr. Michael Savage would need to do the same.
These are the varied and versatile, determined and diverse faces of contemporary American conservatism and individualism. So, do these famous, semi-famous, quasi-famous people and all of the unknown Americans of like minds start a new organization, or find a way, as President Reagan implored, to revitalize the Repulsican/Rebooblican party into an organization of true, Constitutionally conservative principles. And if that is the case, how do we get rid of, or, at least greatly diminish the influence of such spineless RINO's as John McCain't make up his mind if he's conservative or liberal, Lindsay Gramnesty, and John Boo Hoo Bonehead?
